Scientist on hemp field

Processing hemp into usable product, locally.

Global warming as a result of climate change

has become a major concern for people all

over the world.

At The Hemp Factory Australia, it is our mission to manufacture fibre , hurd and fines materials from hemp stalk in Australia - making durable and sustainable products easily accessible to all.

Facilitating a cleaner future for our people

and our planet.

Why industrial hemp?

Hemp fibre is Australia’s new green emerging market.

Hemp is basically nature’s purifier. The plant quickly cleans the air we breathe by capturing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere . Hemp is even more effective in grasping carbon dioxide than trees.

It is a 100% carbon negative, renewable resource that grows quickly and organically.

Hemp farm

Some of the benefits of industrial hemp:

- Multipurpose usability including producing environmentally friendly industrial products such as bio-diesel, bio-concrete, bio-composite, paper, textile, and more.

- The plant grows 6ft-10ft tall and has a short production cycle (70-90 days) and a low labour-intensive production process. Making it easy for sustainable farmers to add it their annual rotation, whilst also helping to regenerate the soil thanks to the nutrients contained within the hemp plants and has a lower change of crop failure.

- Hemp grows more vigorously and requires fewer pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizer hence gaining the reputation of being one of the most sustainable crops.

- It has low capital demand in cultivation.

- Naturally resistant to disease and pests.

- Conserves water.

- High quality, strong and durable product.

Market ready for a variety of commercial and industrial products including building materials, stock feed, rope, textiles, sand, paper, bioplastics, insulation, and biofuel.

Product

The three forms of hemp product created at

the hemp factory:

Fibre – comes from the stalk’s outer sleeves. Strongest fibre globally, ideal for textile, clothing, bailing twine and rope, insulation, landscaping weed suppressing matting.

Hurd – comes from the stalks woody core. Hurd is an amazingly lightweight, fire resistant and strong with natural anti-bacterial properties. Some of the endless uses includes, construction material, bricks, car bodies, animal bedding, garden mulch, paper and biofuels.

Fines – fine fibres are ideal for production of plastics, eco leather additives, absorbents, and compound for 3D printing.

Usage

These products can then be used to produce long-lasting, sustainable goods in a variety of industries:

- Construction materials, including bricks, floorboards, cladding, and insulation. It is harmless, fire-resistant, and captures atmospheric carbon. It has good insulation, excellent mould resistance, and does not contaminate the environment.

- Textiles, including fabrics and rope. One of the first plants that people cultivated for textile usage was hemp. It is robust, bacterial-resistant, and filters UV rays to protect the skin.

- Packaging and paper. Compared to wood, hemp is more recyclable and yielding. The attributes can reduce the rate of deforestation.

- Plastic. Versatility, stiffness, low weight and rapid disintegration rate make them an excellent biofuel material. Hemp plastics surpasses other bioplastics in the market.
